Anyone know a good travel agent in NYC who focuses in Southeast Asia travel?

Please leave me their contact info.
Thanks!

Answer
I actually don’t know one, but maybe this can help too.

I traveled Southeast Asia for two months and found the cheapest way to do it was flying in to Singapore and from there, purchase tickets from Air Asia to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Vietnam. And from even there, there are loads of buses that will take you across the borders i.e. Laos to Thailand for $20 USD.

Numerous backpackers and travelers have said the same during my trip, i.e. you can purchase a ticket to Bangkok from Phuket for $30 USD.

How many Americans here read international news sources?

since everything from Violent images in Iraq, dead troops being brought home, international protests, 9/11 cover-ups are all censored on the corporate controlled US media – ABC, CBS, FOX, CNN, NBC. How many Americans have actually traveled or lived in other countries (excluding club med, and resorts in third world countries that you exploit)?
From a friendly Canadian….
and stop talking about people wanting to come to America from other countries…compared to Canada, Europe, Australia, America is not as multicultural as any of these…and not multicultured, either.

More Facts About Spiders

As an adult, this spider actually lives underwater in what looks like a homemade diving bell. The spider makes this shelter by fastening together several submerged stems of aquatic plants with silk bindings, and then makes a silk sheet that is fastened horizontally between the stems.

The spider comes to the surface, traps a bubble of air, dives down with the bubble, and releases it under the little canopy. Before long, the silk sheet looks like a deep umbrella top, filled with air. Here, the spider lives its life, resting, eating and reproducing. Whenever the spider needs more air, it simply goes to the surface to fetch another bubble.

Horseshoe crabs and spiders are actually close relatives. The horseshoe crab belongs to the large group of invertebrates (animals without backbones) called Arthropods. This group also includes lobsters, crabs, insects, spiders, and scorpions. Even though it looks crab-like, with a hard shell and claws, the horseshoe crab is more closely related to scorpions and spiders than to crabs.

Many cultures believe that spiders bring good luck. The spider “was popular with the Romans, who had a favorite mascot in the shape of a precious stone upon which a spider was engraved. Also they were fond of carrying little spiders of gold or silver, or any of the fortunate metals, to bring good luck in anything to do with trade.”

The idea that to kill a spider will bring bad luck is common still, and most housewives, while destroying the web, will carefully lift the spider and put it out of doors. That killing a spider is followed by monetary loss is the belief in some parts of the country, thus particularizing the kind of ill luck to be expected. But to see a spider is fortunate so long as it is not hurt.” Spider silk can stretch up to 50 percent of its original length. A strand of spider silk the width of a pencil could stop a Boeing 747 in flight.

On average, people fear spiders more than they fear dying. However, statistically, you are more likely to be killed by a champagne cork than by the bite of a poisonous spider.

We’d probably all be dead without spiders. Their sheer number makes spiders vital in maintaining the balance of nature. Because they structure insect communities wherever they occur, spiders play a vital role in the terrestrial food chain. Without all those hungry spiders, insect populations would explode, food crops would be decimated, and ecological balances ravaged. Humans would probably starve within a matter of months–if they hadn’t already succumbed to various insect-borne diseases. No spider, incidentally, has been found to transmit disease.  Silk + Venom = Extraordinary Evolutionary Success.

Two attributes–silk and venom–have contributed to the spider’s key position in the food chain (not counting their prodigious appetites). Scientists are working to put all to use. The ancient Greeks used spider silk very effectively to staunch bleeding wounds, as have soldiers in the Vietnam War and other modern conflicts. (The silk is so fine that it actually traps the blood platelets.)

Spider venom can be used to treat certain neurological and mental disorders. A research group in Utah has isolated components from the venom of many species of North American spiders, which may help reduce brain damage following strokes.

Research is also being done into putting spiders to work in on the farm, to control insect pests. One problem is that while agriculturists generally want a very specific pest eliminated, spiders will eat just about anything, including other spiders on the job.

How is direct communication viewed– is it considered rude or is it expected in Vietnam?? Please any sites i would really appreciate this…

Answer
I think that direct communication is NOT considered rude in VietNam. But somehow it can’t be fully ( always) expected. For example, with someone who can speak English,French, you can be sure that making direct communication would be all right because these are educated ones. Otherwise, you may fail because mostly, vietnamese ladies are pretty SHY, especially those whose cannot understand what you are trying to say. In this case, try to find help from someone who can be as a go-between. That will help.
I hope I can help you with my humble opinion as above. Good luck and best wishes.

The Different Kinds Of Myths About China

Over 20 percent of the world’s population are Chinese, and by lucrative values, China’s slope is only just edge. The Chinese land, taste, budget, and idiom are released to get more and more important in the world during your period. Nevertheless how much do you currently understand current China?

What you educated at prepare about China, and what you read in the newspapers or see on the TV reports may not be dutiful any more.

Have a look at the following generalisations about China and see if you ever heard or supposed something analogous. Can you open your attention and change your preconceptions about China?

What? Of course Chinese taste is primeval! One of the world’s oldest actually. Yes, but what’s fresh China all about? China today is a vibrant advanced people, with matchless pop ethnicity, fashions, arts, tastes, and routine. Chinese people are proud of their heritage, and there is forever awareness of “old China” inside people’s routine and tastes. Nevertheless the frank China of today is a speedy-emotive modern place: the old continues to give way to the new, and, and Chinese people are all looking to their prospect, not resting on the laurels of the elapsed.

By 2050 it’s estimated that 50% of China’s population will live in the cities, and this is where the focus of native statement is at the minute. Chinese cities are being built up at an astounding charge: every city in China is a stunning vista of infrastructure change – new roads and flyovers, new skyscrapers, new stadiums, new hotels and resorts, and of course new heavy ostentatious government buildings. The word “developing” has come to have connotations of ‘third world’, but in the developing cities of China you can only spectacle at the lick of improvement all around.

If you journey to the countryside in China, you sure might have the impression of a ‘developing residents’: people are still rural the land using pre-industrial-revolution tools and techniques, and people’s lifestyles indeed couldn’t be described as cosmopolitan. However, what you may not see is that these people’s children may well be smart professionals in the city, carriage home ever increasing paychecks to their family. Chinese people are ultimately loyal to their parents, and will routinely conserve and transmit home large proportions of their salaries. Even if the youth who move to the Chinese cities aren’t managers or entrepreneurs, city salaries for even main jobs are enough in comparative talking to make everybody lucky. Everywhere you go in the Chinese countryside, you can see previously lowly families import cars and house new houses. So the wealth of the cities will filter to rural areas through secret channels, regardless of the town-alert investment policies of the government.

Yes, of course Chinese people eat Chinese food! Nevertheless do you even know what Chinese food is?

Forget what you think you know from your district “Chinese” takeaway. Unless you’ve spent numerous living in mainland China, it’s suspect you have even a trace about Chinese fare. The selection heed-boggling and almost certainly unrivalled in any other country. Expatriates in China will all tell you that every day they are still demanding new dishes, even after living there for existence. (And since we’re on the question of mythbusting, miserable to be politically improper, but actually you can find dog meat restaurants everywhere in southern China and people genuinely enjoy intake it in the winter. On the other hand, in glitch you are receiving a bit bothered now, dog is an expensive speciality so it’s impossible that you will ever take a meat dish which dog meat unless you explicitly ordered it!!)

Modern Chinese people in the cities also eat pizza, burgers, spaghetti, sandwiches, chocolate, and all sorts of truthful international cuisines, not only rubbish food. Visitors to China who can’t use chopsticks, or have a fear of rice, will have absolutely no problem feeding themselves! (But if you defeat China, choose be a little more imaginative than to go instantly to one of the hundreds of Starbucks springing up in every city.)

Politically, China is still a one-celebrate declare and the Chinese people do not future their leaders. How much does this matter? For a start, China was never the same variety of ‘communist’ government that we partner with Soviet Russia. And the existence of Mao are loooong consumed!

Government in China today is actually much minus centralised than in most other countries, with an amazing quantity of control in the hands of provincial or city-even governing bodies. These district governments are increasingly competing with one another to recover and develop their domains, and the result is a lot more assured than controversy-hunting western journalists’ customary portrayals.

Are the Chinese people oppressed? Hardly! Chinese institute is, any observer would be required to admit, remarkably free and progressive. In spot of verity, most Chinese people couldn’t be described as particularly restless about “abandon” or following change, being more nervous about receiving an ideal of the GDP pie and improving their lives and their children’s lives. The biased sentiment which most Chinese people reveal is a covet for stability, shelter, and prosperity – and sincerely everybody would have to admit the government in Beijing is burden a really good job at that regardless of any abstract criticisms of their “communist” political identity.

Economically, what is China? People always laugh at the phrase “capitalism with Chinese characteristics” but it’s right it’s hard to find any description or comparative model for the Chinese approach these days. In the behavior the Chinese are more capitalist at the minute than someone also, perhaps because the structure has lagged behind in regulating and demanding the explosion of exclusive import in the last twenty living. The name “The Wild East” has a certain fidelity about it at the instant, but gear are receiving more standardised, the RMB (Chinese Yuan – the currency) is now open to trade, and of course China is in the WTO now. Expect the China pages of your newspaper to get ever more prominent as businesses and governments rouse up more to the efficient power of the Chinese sell.

Misconception 5.China is blocked and difficult to trip.Any one from almost any country in the world can easily obtain a Chinese tour pass from a tour agent and book a flight to any of China’s budding slope of international airports. Once in China you can go to halt where you want. It’s just as cool as visiting any other country. The only incentive your journey activity isn’t packed with leaflets about visiting China is because those tour companies just don’t get it yet… Don’t concern – the tour agency will presently wake up!

“Yes, but Chinese people don’t talk English!” Pssst – can you think of any other accepted world journey destinations where the limited people, maybe, probably don’t speak English as their first language? Seriously, in the cities a lot of people can help out naive travellers, and even if you’re difficult to be independent or adventurous, you’ll find Chinese people affable, tolerant, and usually not scary at all.

In provisos of other traveller fears about safety, guarantee, and cleanliness, China is already in the top step of countries in the world to live in or travel to. Frequent travellers to China will back this up: even in the private cities of China, you can move around as a well visible foreigner, and although you may be stared at, you will never feel in any danger or discomfort. (Unless you projected a ‘typical’ western grandeur toilet – oh prized! – but that’s an experience you’ll have to find out by visiting China yourself!)

Wake up and smell the tea! You basic to visit China and experience it yourself: there is no way you will break through the misconceptions and prejudices about China from your lounger.
