I want to travel to Asia for 6 months: HK, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia: Any restrictions for US Passport?

I am planning a trip to Asia exploring different areas such as HK, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia. Length of stay per state or Country is around 1-2 months. Can I be away from US for over 6 months? Any Visa requirements into any of these countries and is there any the Length of Stay restrictions? Can I work while I am exploring the city? Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia – visa free for up to 90 days
Taiwan – visa free for up to 30 days

However the above is subject to the following :

- for social visits ONLY
- validity of your passport must be more than 6 months
- possess valid return ticket or ticket to a third country
- able to show proof of having enough fund to sustain your stay if asked

Aside from having a cheap cost of living for someone like you..you may also visit most of the beautiful beaches, wonderful tourist spot and most of all meeting exotic, warm and friendly people.

Try to visit BORACAY ISLAND, PALAWAN AND PANGLAO ..awesome beaches here in PHilippines. No wonder why all western people like to stay here for their vacation.

Traditional Thai massage here is given an extra addition with the innovation of nighttime candlelit massage. Aromatherapy treatments are widely recommended and special menus of vegetarian dishes can be ordered at your private spa pavilion. With nightly rates starting at around baht 14,000, it’s not cheap but it is high quality. With a huge variety of activities available such as sea-kayaking, sailing, climbing, rock climbing, water sports, snorkeling, scuba, etc. and with the stunning surrounding scenery it is arguably Thailand’s most outstanding resort.

Chiangmai’s answer to the super beach spas of the south is the Lanna Spa at the Regent Hotel. Situated amidst the tiered rice paddies there are seven treatment suites and a penthouse offering countryside views with outdoor showers and spa tubs, giving the resort a sense of the impossible health seeker’s dream.

For those in the area looking for less pampering but with a serious edge to their ideal, the famous Sunshine House is located in Chiangmai town. The center, created by Asokananda, offers meditation, yoga, tai’chi and massage courses as well as accommodation at mountain retreats.

To avoid this, always drink water from a sealed bottle from either a vending machine or shop. Buying bottled water from street sellers does pose a small amount of risk however, as used bottles can sometimes be refilled with contaminated drinking water. To avoid this, do not drink water from a bottle that is not sealed or looks to have been resealed with glue.

With plenty of street stalls and buyers bartering and haggling for the best deal there’s no reason why you can’t join in the fun! In situations such as these however, it’s advisable to leave any expensive jewellery at home or in a secure safe in your hotel room. Unlike a handbag, this cannot be broken into by pickpockets and allows you to get lost in the thick of the action without falling victim to opportunistic thieves.

I’ve got many friends from UK who loves the Island they called their second home – Penang (Malaysia). It may not be as posh as Singapore, or advanced like Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) or Super-standard like Japan, yet Penang is the choice of many a Global travellers as it has a balance of many things, such as a unique heritage, nature, beaches, food (yes, best area to get the most delicious yet cheap cuisine in Malaysia!), shopping (may not be as many Kuala Lumpur, but hey, many loved shopping here in Penang, as bargains are possible in local retails and markets) and it multiculturalism (Penang Hokkien, a Chinese dialect now made fame for hereditary). Also, you have a choice of accommodations from YMCA/YWCA to motels, from hotels to resorts. Trishaws are famous here, same for the unique Peranakan (Baba-Nyonya or Straits Chinese) culture as well as the famous ferry, transporting people and vehicles between Weld Quay (Island Jetty) and Butterworth (Mainland).

Try to visit BORACAY ISLAND, PALAWAN AND PANGLAO ..awesome beaches here in PHilippines. No wonder why all western people like to stay here for their vacation.

On Location May 07 – Thailand and Laos

After a long flight via Bangkok it was a delight to land at the small, sunny airport of Luang Prabang. This wonderful UNESCO World Heritage site is somewhere I’ve longed to visit and it didn’t disappoint.

Small streets with beautiful colonial architecture, stunning temples and enough restaurants to be able to eat dinner in a different place every day of the week. A real highlight – and not just because I’m a committed shopper – was the night market. None of the rubbish you find in other markets of this nature but genuine local crafts brought down from the villages each night and set out along the main street. A real delight but it did mean that I soon had no space left in my bag!

Another treat and well worth the early start was watching the monks walk the streets to collect alms. Although I did feel that some were not aware of the high regard in which Buddhist monks are held in South East Asia and were too intrusive with their cameras.

From Luang Prabang I travelled up the Mekong to Chiang Rai. Two days watching the world go by – the Mekong affords a tranquil easy life to those on its banks – and stopping at local villages en route. It was freezing in the mornings and I needed endless layers and blankets until the sun was high enough to take the chill out of the morning. We overnighted in a lodge on the banks of the river where a fresh, local dinner was served with plenty of Laotian beer. And then a second day relaxing on the boat before reaching Chiang

Here, I was reminded how lucky I am to work in travel: waiting for me was an a/c 4×4 to whisk me to the Four Seasons Tented Camp. Yes, it’s expensive but it is truly amazing. Permanent tents are scattered through the forest with outside showers and large terraces.

At breakfast the following morning (not wearing the most glamorous of Mahout’s outfits) I was greeted by the younger elephants who were delighted to be receiving treats from the thrilled guests. Then it was off for my morning’s Mahout training course. Learning to ‘drive’ an elephant was not something I had yearned to do but it turned out to be a lot of fun. For me at least – I am not sure how appreciative the elephants were of me clambering all over them without much thought to style or elegance.

Moving onto Chiang Mai and the Four Seasons which is located just outside the town. Another jewel in the Four Seasons Crown this has long been a Steppes favourite and again did not disappoint. The following day I was lucky enough to stay at the reasonably new and very stylish Chedi Chiang Mai which, right in the middle of town, is ideally placed for the night market (not quite the night market of Luang Prabang but the perfect place to replace broken sunglasses)! Some of the sights outside Chiang Mai have been rather spoilt by mass tourism however with a bit of insider knowledge and effort you can see elephants based at the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre and it’s also worth the drive to see the long-necked Karon tribe at one of the smaller villages located an hour or so outside the city.

One of the main advantages of finishing a trip to Laos and Northern Thailand in Chiang Mai is being able to fly direct to Phuket in the South and from there to any of the outlying islands. I went on to the Sarojin in Kao Lak and the Chedi Phuket – both a wonderful spoiling treat to end with!

With light traffic, you can get to SM MOA in under 15 minutes. If there is moderate traffic, between 20-30 mins, 30 min- 1 hr, if the traffic is really heavy. SM MOA is just two rides away from DLSU – one jeep ride to from DLSU to Buendia (under 5 mins, usually), and another from Buendia to MOA so it won’t really take long.

Edit:

Oh, this is assuming that the jeepney from Buendia to MOA leaves immediately. The drivers fill their jeepneys first before leaving, so take that into account.
