About Asia Safety Travel Tips

Asia occupies a quarter of the earth’s land mass, it spans a lot of time zones. Having a single travel guide for all of Asia is virtually impossible. Asia like any other continent, here are basic travel tips for a few of the most happening countries in Asia.

Vietnam
The country’s recommended tourist spots are Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, which are both modernized. All tourists in Vietnam, except Thai and Philippine Nationals need a tourist Visa before entering the Country. Health wise, Malaria is prevalent in Vietnam, it would be best to bring with you anti-mosquito lotions to prevent being bit.

Indonesia
Aside from the usual prohibition of narcotics and deadly weapons, Radio cassette Players are banned in the Island of Bali, which is a prime tourist spot in Indonesia. Any object with Chinese characters written on it, are also prohibited in Bali.

Thailand
Thai people are very religious and very loyal to the monarchy. You would often see pictures of the king around the cities, never make fun of him. The Thai also consider the head as the highest part of the body, whether spiritual or physical. Refrain from touching anybody in the head, and try not to point at anything with your foot.

Malaysia
It’s best to bring light and cool clothing in Malaysia. You would usually find food stands in the cities selling the local delicacies, “teh tarik” a creamed tea, and “roti canai” a type of pancake, are a must try when you do encounter them. Malaysia has many religions, you would usually see, a variety of Christian churches, Muslim Mosques and Buddhist and Hindu temples may be present in each city.

Philippines
The Philippine has 7,107 islands and islets; beaches are the main tourist spots in the country. There are several museums and Historical Landmarks in Manila, the country’s capital.  Boracay Island is the boast of the country which has white sand beaches.

Hongkong
Hong Kong is a key destination for many travelers. It is located in Eastern Asia, near China and the South China Sea. Formerly, leased to Great Britain, Hong Kong was officially returned to China in 1997.  Hong Kong offers diversity in: culture, religion, and lifestyles.
Chinese, (Cantonese) and English are both the official language here. So foreigners, who are planning to visit, should not have any problems exploring, and experiencing the culture of this vibrant place; since English is widely spoken here.

Hong Kong dollar is the currency in use here. One American dollar roughly equals around 7 Hong Kong dollars.
Hong Kong is known for: its unique energetic vibe, its wonderful food, and beautiful skylines. Hong Kong offers many great upscale shopping districts that rival the high end streets of: Shanghai, London and Paris. But the best places to shop here are the unique shops, and street markets that exhibit the charm and uniqueness of the locality.

General Tips
Each country in Asia has its own currency, although up-end establishments will accept dollars, there are very few of these around. It is best to have your money changed at the local bank. Some hotels also offer money changing, but usually at a lower exchange rate.
Like any kind of decisions people have to make, it is always important to know the area they will be visiting so as to familiarize themselves with the laws, locations of best tourist spots, and the kind of people they have to deal with.
Going to a place without having the slightest idea what it is all about is just as bad as going to the wilderness with beasts lurking everywhere and there’s no gadget to protect them.

Vietnam Travel Guide

Volumes have been said and printed about Vietnam’s bitter past, a scar that will continue to be a scalding reminder from the struggles and hardship they long endured. The Vietnamese core family values and the spirit to take proper care of one’s family, one’s relative, and also the relative’s kin, sum up the collective resolve of a country, battered and beaten to a pulp, but stood up again; this period globally economic stage. Vietnam is standing proudly. It is the political and economic advancement of this nation of 83 million inhabitants during the last ten years that catapulted this country into a oncoming tiger economy, a far cry from its initial political and economic isolation inside the aftermath in the Vietnam war and nicely into the 80’s.

Vietnam is the place to find two Globe Normal Heritage sites namely Halong Bay and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in addition to scenic natural landscapes such as the PhuQuoc island and the historic villages along the Mekong River. Vietnamese cuisine is fast gaining interest and recognition for its elegant simplicity and healthful preparation characterized by utilizing very little oil and a mix of vegetables. The Vietnamese coastal regions abound with popular and world-class beaches and scenic boat rides. But nothing strikes on spot the essence of Vietnam as a beautiful view of large expanse of rice fields with the harvesters, clad in their native Ao’Dai and wearing their familiar conical hats to safeguard them through the heat.

Now that the Tiger has finally roused from his deep slumber, progress is seen all around, flowing, like the scores of motorbikes, massing and gushing forward in a sea of headlights and honkers within the streets of Hanoi. International acceptance of Vietnam’s fresh- discovered status is very much apparent inside the booming tourism industry. And it would hurt a bit if you finally give it a try for Vietnam.

Cheap Travel To Russia And Some Important Things You Must Know… Make A Good Decision

Russia might not be a good choice for most travelers who want to visit Europe. With its questionable peace and order situation particularly in the regions of Chechnya, the Communist rule impression still resides to most, and frigid climate throughout the country especially during the winter, Russia should be uninviting for most. But that was before. Now, although there are still shadows of the past Soviet, Russia is a place worth to be visited.

Travelers would not be disappointed with several historical sites that tell how rich Russia’s culture is. There are several museums, monuments, and untouched nature.

Cheap travel to Russia
Visiting Russia can be very expensive considering the distance of country. But with several online travel companies, the price tag is significantly lower that it was before.

To get affordable and cheap travel to Russia, all you have to do is to check the websites specializing on cheap tours. There are available travel tours and packages for group and family who decide to make a stop to Russia.

About Russia
While Moscow and St. Petersburg are the primary cities of the country, Russia has several side countries to discover. Be careful though when traveling. Make sure you know very well the places you are planning to visit.

You might have a little trouble communicating with locals especially if you are away on these two cities. But if you can understand the Russian language, you wont be having any problem.

Russia is a big country. In fact, it is the largest country in the world with a size twice as much as the United States. It spans from Europe to Asia and is divided into 11 time zones.

Climate has been the major issue of those who plan to travel Russia- that is if you will go to the Siberian region. Most people visit Russia when winter ends. It is usually for May- September. Unlike the usual impression, summer is perfect during these times.

Safety tips
When you decide to travel to Russia, learn as many things as possible. Know the language, the people, the culture, how to get around, and especially- know where the U.S. Embassy is located.

When you pack, pack light. Avoid carrying too much cash and expensive jewelry. Never show your wallets in public. Use money belt that can be worn around your neck. It is safer than wallet. Be vigilant when in crowded places like public markets, public transport, and tourist sites among others. Be aware of pickpockets at all times.

If you are going from point to point, do not hail on unmarked taxis and cars. Likewise, never share taxi to other people you do not know. If you are planning to travel by bus or train, take extra precaution.

If you are planning to drink on public places, make sure you have someone who remains sober. Any sign of intoxication might attract professional robbers and thieves.

Make sure other people back at home know your itineraries and contact numbers and numbers of your travel document such as your passport before leaving. If something wrong happens, they would know where to find you. Make enough photocopies of your plane tickets, passport, visa, and all your travel documents. Leave a copy at your home or to someone you know.

Check for travel warning and avoid the regions of Ingushetia, North Caucasus of Chechnya, eastern and southern parts of Stavropol Krii, and Dagestan. These places could be dangerous for tourist.

Avoid drinking tap water. Instead drink bottled water. If there is no available bottled water, boil the water first before drinking.

All these could help you make it through your Russian trip safely.

Anyone know a good travel agent in NYC who focuses in Southeast Asia travel?

Please leave me their contact info.
Thanks!

Answer
I actually don’t know one, but maybe this can help too.

I traveled Southeast Asia for two months and found the cheapest way to do it was flying in to Singapore and from there, purchase tickets from Air Asia to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Vietnam. And from even there, there are loads of buses that will take you across the borders i.e. Laos to Thailand for $20 USD.

Numerous backpackers and travelers have said the same during my trip, i.e. you can purchase a ticket to Bangkok from Phuket for $30 USD.

8.       Destinations: North and South America

To be a successful seller of travel, you must have a solid knowledge of the places travelers favor. After all, if you don’t know where something is in the world, how can you give the expert advice that your customers expect?

Travel geography is different from the basic geography you might have learned in school. In the travel industry, which country exports the most bauxite ore is unimportant, but which one has the best climate, tourist attractions, beaches, museums, etc. is very important.

We can’t begin to cover all of the possible vacation destinations in the world, but in this course and the next two courses to follow we will teach you about as many popular vacations spots as we can.

9.       Destinations: Europe

To be a successful seller of travel, you must have a solid knowledge of the places in Europe that travelers favor. After all, if you do not know at least something about a country or a place, how can you give the expert advice that your customers expect? Knowing which of the European cities has the best tourist attractions, beaches, museums, etc., is very important to your success as a home-based travel agent.

In our business model, your customers go directly to your web site to research, book, and buy European travel. But what if those customers have a question about a destination that cannot be readily answered on the web site? They may look to you for guidance and advice. You really need to know your European travel-related geography to provide your customers with the best service possible.

In this course, we can’t begin to cover all of the possible vacation destinations in Europe, but we’ll list as many of the popular sites as we can.

10.   Destinations: Africa, Asia and the South Pacific

Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific – these regions of the world consist of dozens of countries and cultures – some ancient, some relatively new. Do travelers have a clear notion of these far-flung places? Not really. That’s where you come in.

These regions are so expansive that we can’t begin to cover all of the possible vacation destinations in these parts of the world, so we’ve selected those that are the most significant to travel.

When you take these courses with our agency your knowledge will be expanded and you will have a better understanding of all the possibilities that are open to you.  Not only will you increase your knowledge base, but you will increase your commissions upon completion of all ten modules!

Singapore Travel Tips

Anyone might have a difficult time spotting Singapore within the globe map. Also, any person may have a challenging time understanding Singapore altogether from a cultural and tourism standpoint. There is this mythical perception about Singapore – having a routinely unadventurous citizenry produced through the ultra-strict, disciplinarian laws, as well as the sleek, disinfected yet bland cosmopolitan living.

It perhaps a small nation which has a acreage of just 704 sq. km. with nearly 50% of the people invented of foreigners. But Singapore quite the opposite, is exciting – bustling with cultural and religious variety amid a backcloth of jagged skyscrapers that range across the horizon. In which else internationally can you experience on-hand authentic cultural sceneries of China, Malay and India in exactly just one day of exploring?

When considering food – there is more than likely an immediate proportionality among the meteoric rise of Science and Information Technology in the city-island state plus the expansion with the varied and complex Singaporean street cuisine. Just strolling all around the metropolis simply agitates the gustatory senses. Food stalls and hawkers of all shapes and sizes constantly jostle approximately. The aromas of distinctly Asian delicacies are screaming for attention such as char kway teow, chicken rice, Sambai stingray, beef rendang, and clay-pot seafood.

The Singapore Central Company District is in itself a marvel for the next tourists, safe to state that the main holidaymaker destinations like the Sentosa island, East Coast Park beaches, The Underwater Planet as well as the Night Safari are a completely new and blissful encounter altogether. Indeed, the Singaporean government is locating a premium on tourism, as the tourism industry is often a fiercely competitive organization in the whole of Southeast Asia.

Gambling was of late legalized to enable casino resorts to be produced in Sentosa Tropical isle and also the Marina South. Singapore is generating the correct steps to attract much more tourists. This tiny island city-state is becoming much more inviting and accommodating with all tremendous areas to find out, excellent food to eat and tremendous comforts all tossed in one compact, modern Shangri-la.

Let’s say if I wanted to travel to Asia, what area would be the best for a modern, cultural experience?

If you have traveled to Asia, please tell me your experience and on a scale of 1-10 how you liked it.

Answer
If it’s your first time in Asia, possibly Thailand is a good introduction. It’s exotic enough with a developed infrastructure for tourism. If you’re adventurous, continue on to Bhutan(this has to be planned very much in advance though due to the visas needed)- with Bangkok being the easiest entrypoint into the ‘hidden kingdom’.
You’d mentioned both ‘modern’ and ‘cultural’ within the same sentence- so am assuming you’re looking for a rather developed tourism infrastructure. The above combination(Thailand + Bhutan) would really be the best in terms of exposing you to ‘Asia’ within a relatively safe and controlled environment.
Had personally enjoyed Thailand due to the ease of finding good hotels, restaurants and shopping(while being relatively exotic enough). Bhutan is the exact opposite- I’d found myself without mooisturizer and couldn’t find a decent drugstore even in Thimphu, electricity is cut off after a certain hour in parts of Bhutan and there really isn’t much by way of restaurants and entertainment. The cultural experience of Bhutan and the Himalayan scenery however, more than compensates for whatever lack of ‘modern’ pursuits.

Vietnam Visa in Bangkok while staying in hotel..?

So hotels usually keep your passport when you check-in. If you’re staying at a hotel, and you need to get a visa, to lets say, Vietnam, how is this done? Would the hotel staff get this done for you? If not, can we get the passport back from the hotel to get it done at the embassy?
In Vietnam, whenever you check in, they keep your passport until you check-out. It’s like that throughout the country, at least, from the 10+ hotels I’ve stayed at.

Do they not do that in Thailand? If not, then I have nothing to worry about.
Oh shit. Haha. I thought hotels in Vietnam do this. I studied abroad and they kept all the students and professors passport until we left. Weird. Same with all the other hotels we stayed at.

Answer
don’t know where you get the idea that the hotel is going to hold your passport. you don’t let anyone hold your passport. The only reason a hotel will look at your passport is to insure your on a legal visa, I believe it’s the law in Thailand. You can do what you want with your passport.
