How to promote the positive images of vietnam?

Have anyone here ever been to Vietnam? If yes, can u please suggest ways to promote the positive images of vietnam in tourism industry ?What can we do to attract more tourists?

Answer
I went back for several weeks in the fall of 1995 and even then, Vietnam had already improved so much over what it was in the 1960’s. It was wonderful to visit both the North and the South and saw the country, so beautiful and modernizing and the people, so friendly and forgiving, finally had the peace that they so richly deserve.

When I was in Hanoi, I ran into a group of active US servicemen who were members of an MIA recovery team who happened to be staying at the same hotel I was staying at. They told me they encountered no hostilities from anyone in Vietnam and met nothing but friendliness and cooperation from the government to the people.

U.S. veterans I met on the streets and in museums and restaurants told me the same thing. What’s more, they told me their visits to Vietnam had helped so much in their healing process. They thought they could replace the horrible images of war with those happy ones they saw on their latest visits whenever they thought of Vietnam.

Vietnam needs to hire good American public relations/advertising firms to change the perception of the country still in the minds of many Americans, especially those over the age of 50 who still remember the images of Vietnam at war. When the Japanese began to sell cars en mass in America in the late 1970’s, they had to do the same thing as most Americans at that time thought of Japanese products as cheap but low in quality. It takes a lot of education to undo a prejudice.

Giving free tours of Vietnam to American travel agents, travel writers and tour operators is another way. They only need to report the truth of what they see there and tourism to Vietnam will substancially increase.

Already, there are over 300,000 American citizens visiting Vietnam each year, 100,000 (mostly Americans of Vietnamese descent) over the Tet holidays alone. But the number could be many times that when Vietnam is able to attract Americans of all backgrounds.

Who wouldn’t enjoy a beautiful country with lots of historical and natural sites, friendly and courteous people, safe and secure society, first class lodging facilities, delicious and exciting foods and what’s more, very reasonable prices…that is indeed Vietnam. I’m ready to go back later this year with my family!

Vietnam muon nam! (Long live Vietnam!)

Tips For Cheap And Good Vacation

Just about everyone loves to travel, and travel is one of the most intriguing and fun activities one can engage in. Travel provides the remarkable ability to see the world from a whole new perspective, and I for one believe that if people traveled more outside their country there would be far less war and trouble in the world.

When asked why they do not travel, one of the most frequently cited reasons is lack of money.Lack of funds, however, does not need to be a barrier to traveling the world.

Obviously if you’re flat broke you may not be able to travel as you wish, but most people have at least some disposable income, and it can be surprisingly inexpensive to travel to many places.

One of the primary considerations for any budget minded traveler is where to stay. Fortunately, there are many budget friendly options when it comes to putting a roof over your head for the night.

For solo travelers, hostels can provide, clean safe accommodations and the chance to meet and interact with people from all over the world. Best of all, the prices are almost impossible to beat. For instance, most hostels in major U.S. cities range from $20 to $30 a night, when a hotel room would set you back a cool $150-$200 or even more.

In Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, hostel accommodations are even cheaper, with many charging the equivalent of $5 a night or even less. The key is to check the internet and see what is available in your destination. Many hostels even provide online booking, so you can arrive with your lodging issues already taken care of.

For couples, a budget hotel can be a great choice. There are many such hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts, located all around the world. Again, many of them are on the internet, and like hostels many can be booked online before you leave home.

Another great way to save money while still having a great vacation is to use the public transportation system. Most destinations in Europe, and many in the United States and Canada as well, have excellent, fast, reliable, and cheap public transportation systems.

You can probably by a weekly bus pass for less than what you would pay to rent a car for a single day. And public transportation also frees you from the hassles of parking the car, keeping it gassed up and learning your way around.

Another important key to traveling cheap is traveling light. Trekking around Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, or the Americas does not require a mountain of luggage. If you are unsure whether to pack it, chances are it is best left at home. It is best to take a couple of sturdy and versatile outfits, and a good pair of walking shoes, and leave the rest at home.

Getting the best airfare, along with finding the cheapest place to stay, is one of the essential cornerstones of successful budget travel.

There are a number of strategies for getting the best deal on airfare, from using credit cards to rack up frequent flier miles, to using discount airlines, to traveling in the off or shoulder season. The strategy that is best for you depends on your individual needs, and on the location you choose.

Keeping the money you do have for travel safe and secure is always a concern when traveling. Most seasoned travelers have learned to use a hidden money belt to carry passports, plane tickets and the majority of their cash.

Using an in room safe is also a good idea. It is generally best to use credit cards for major purchases, and keep only a small amount of cash on hand for incidental purchases. Not only do credit cards provide the best exchange rates, but you are not liable for fraudulent purchases as long as you report the card stolen in a timely fashion.

Travel does not have to be out of reach, even for the most budget minded traveler. The key is to shop wisely, focus on your priorities and get the most out of the money you do spend.

Elephant Village, where elephant shows are conducted; Sanctuary of Truth, noted for its intricate architectural designs; Monkey Training Center, where apart from monkey shows, snake shows and cock fighting are also conducted; Horseshoe Point Club, a great spot for all levels of people to enjoy horse riding; Suan Nong Nooch, a recreational park with beautiful tropical gardens; Romance of the Three Kingdoms Park, a park with a variety of Chinese style objects and buildings; Pattaya Amusement Park, whose tower houses a revolving restaurant; and Mini Siam.

A visit to Pattaya would be incomplete without taking a tour to interesting shrines in the region such as Wat Yansangwararam, a modern temple complex with buildings built in several architectural types reflecting Indian, Chinese, and Japanese styles; and Wat Khao Cheejan, where one can see a huge image of Buddha carved out in gold on a mountain.

Vacation Holiday In Japan Travel Guide

Thinking of a holiday vacation in exotic Asia but does not know where to go? This travel guide article introduces you to Japan, the country in which you can find buzzing cities where you can shop and party till the wee small hours of the morning or if you prefer, visit Japan’s almost nature perfect countryside and marvel at its awesome natural beauty.

Japan, or sometimes referred to as “Land of the rising sun” is an island nation located in north-eastern Asia between the northern Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan.

The country has a land mass of approximately 377,870 sq km (145 896 sq miles) which is just a tad smaller than the state of California.

The country is made up of four major island groups with more than 4,000 smaller islands surrounding the big four islands of Hokkaido to the north, Honshu, the main island, Shikoku which is the smallest of the four and Kyushu, as the southernmost island.

Japan has a very homogenous culture and thus it is not surprising that there is only one official written and spoken language. However, to the delight of tourists and business travelers, many Japanese are able to understand English and speak the language to a certain extent albeit with heavy accent as can be seen in some Hollywood movies.

The reason why many so Japanese can speak English is that the English language is the only foreign language all Japanese must learn as part of compulsory school education program.

Japan has a population of over 125 million people and most Japanese live in densely populated urban areas such as Tokyo which is the capital of Japan. Tokyo has a population of about 12 million people.

Tokyo,is a marvelous city of stark contrast which makes it as a very interesting and exciting city to tour. Tourists on holiday vacation are often enchanted with the glitzy lights of nightlife downtown Shibuya and Roppongi, homes to wonderful international and local restaurants, theme bars and karaoke clubs to dazzle you in contrast to the the tranquil serenity of Buddhist temples and sleepy side streets, where quaint local antique stores and old cafes beckon.

Tokyo is also home to the first Disneyland theme park in Asia. The other one being in Hong Kong.

Many tourists regard Japan as a food paradise haven. Japanese food is not only well known for its health benefits, it is also famous throughout the world for its painstaking presentation. It is certainly a culinary delight to indulge in Japanese food.

You can find traditional smoky yakitori stalls where customers sit around makeshift tables, drinking ice-cold beer as the sun sets on a hot summer day, to high class restaurants, where kimono clad waitresses serve the freshest sushi and sashimi.

The quality and the variety of food in Japan are so vast that you can hardly find such wide diversity and quality of food anywhere else in the world.

Traditionally, having lunch would have been from the homemade bento box, however many Japanese restaurants these days are encouraging the trend to eat out at midday by offering great lunch set meals. This may include sushi sets with miso soup and green tea.

Most Japanese have theirlunch seated by the counter so that they can watch the chef in action preparing freshly cut sushi served on a bamboo leaves.

Tokyo is usually the landing city for vacationing tourists visiting Japan and is the launching pad to other tourist attractions in this amazing country.

So if you are a tourist on a holiday vacation who loves taking in sights of natural wonders, who loves great food and plenty of nightlife action, then Japan could be your ideal holiday destination in exotic Asia.

Booking a Holiday Tour or Vacation in Laos

In my capacity as the UK Director of Operations for One World Tours Limited, I am often asked about the destinations I have been to. I try to give a good opinion on those places and offer some helpful advice. Here then, are my top suggestions for sites to take in during your holiday in Laos.

When you visit Laos you will notice immediately how important the culture, heritage and Buddhism are to its inhabitants. Laos is located between Vietnam and Thailand in the south east of Asia. It is a beautiful country with many rivers, rugged mountains, forests, plains and plateaus. Laos has been isolated from outside influences so the tourist gets a unique view of traditional Southeast Asian life. With its fertile lowlands of the Mekong River valley and the rugged Annamite highlands, Laos has got to be one of the highlights in Asia.

Laos has a tropical monsoon climate with the rainy season during the months of May to November and the roads can become washed out & the dry season starting from December to April. The weather is not too hot and there is less rainfall between November and February. The most popular time that tourists actually visit Laos are December to February but the good thing is there are not too many during these times.

For trekking or visiting the mountains, May and July are good, warm, dry months to experience them.

One of the most beautiful places in Laos is Luang Prabang and it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. It is a magical ancient city that seems to have stood still in time surrounded by its mountains.

In the centre of the city of Laos is Mount Phousi. From this amazing standpoint you will witness stunning views of the hills and temples that surround it.

Khone Phapheng is considered to be the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia and with this in mind makes it an amazing place to experience. You will find this waterfall at the southern end of Si Phan Don home to the rare Irrawaddy dolphins.

The Pak Ou Caves are an absolutely spectacular sight to behold. One of the caves is filled with hundreds of statues of the Buddha which can be seen through a rugged hole in the cliff face.

If you want to see this amazing scene up close then it is possible to climb out onto the dock where the beautifully carved stones will lead you up to the entrance of the cave. There are statues of Buddha’s absolutely everywhere that you look, balancing on stone shelves, lining the stairs and in the nooks and crannies in the cave.

Pilgrims and kings have gone to the caves to worship for at least the last 500 years.

Pha That Luang is a Buddhist temple in Vientiane, Laos which was built in the 16th century. The temple was destroyed by a Thai invasion but has since been restored to its former glory. There are some people that believe that relics of the Buddha are housed in this temple. This temple has become a symbol of Lao nationalism due to the architecture including the Lao people’s culture and identity.

There is a wonderfully unique place known as the Plain Of Jars, located in the remote north east of Laos, where you will find hundreds of huge stone urns. These stone jars cover an area of several square miles and have become a great crowd puller. The urns are one of the most enigmatic ancient sights in Asia. To this day the many jars have kept their secret from the many historians who have tried to date them and discover what they actually signify.

In the province of Champasak you will find an amazing mountain Temple dating back to the 5th century which is known as Wat Phu, is an impressive ruin of Khmer style. There are a number of carved rocks above the temple site, each of them resembling different animals including a cobra, an elephant and a crocodile. Some believe that these rocks may have been used for human sacrifice in times gone by.

Vacation Rentals Undiscovered Travel Retreats

Vacation time may be several months away, and you may be starting to think about where and what might be the perfect vacation this year – the beach, golf resort, SCUBA diving, skiing, maybe just sight seeing? And you think about places you have been – and the problems you have had. You cannot forget the time you went on vacation and discovered that the rooms that were really too small, or the room service was bad. There was also the time that the people in the next unit were loud and obnoxious, and the primary reason you had taken a vacation was to find peace and quiet. If only you could have the comforts of your home magically transported to your fantasy destination, then you could have had the perfect vacation.

Well, your dream arrangement is (almost) possible – you just have to look at vacation rental of a home, condo or cabin instead of hotels, motels and resorts. If you’ve never tried a vacation rental, there is a whole world of opportunities out there, just waiting for you to discover them.

Lots of people have vacation homes or condos that they use only part of the year. Many of these people rent out their places when they know they aren’t going to be there to use it themselves. The process is a little different than pulling up in front of a Best Western or Holiday Inn, but the principle is the same – you get to use a room or set of rooms where you are able to reside, for the length of your vacation.

Normally hotel, motel or resort rooms are relatively small. So things can get a bit tight, particularly if the kids are along, or if are there or two, three or four couples who have a routine of vacationing together. By renting a vacation home or condo you will get more space, some privacy, and you may be able to get luxury features you haven’t been able to install yet under your own roof. Another thing – you can find vacation rental units of practically all kinds, practically anywhere in the country – or, for that matter, in the world.

There are literally thousands of places available that are private homes, condos, cabins, etc., available for vacation rental. And, the facilities available in these rentals range from rustic to lavish, comfortable and spacious.

There are thousands of companies around the world acting as agents for owners. Many of these agents have listings in every state of the United States, plus Mexico and the Caribbean. They are really just booking agents, but they have information on a huge number of properties in a large number of locations. They have listings in Central America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the South Pacific. Unless you had your heart set on a vacation in Antarctica, it doesn’t seem like there can be much of anywhere that you will not be able to find vacation rentals.

Most agents found online and offline have vacation rental homes in US destinations, and many also have access to international listings. On the Internet, you will be able to find listings provided by agents – and vacation rentals by owner. At most websites that cater to the vacation rental industry, listings will contain a full inventory of what a particular property has to offer the vacationer and most of those listings contain several photographs, including interior and exterior photos.

Many vacation home rentals can be found near the center of major tourist areas, such as Disney World in Florida, or near beaches – perhaps even on the beachfront – in many coastal states. Other vacation rental homes are located out in the boondocks, such as in the wooded and mountainous regions of Arkansas, Colorado or Tennessee.

For instance, there is the 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath, lakeside, log home at Presque Isle, Wisconsin, located on the shores of Presque Isle Lake, an hours’ drive south of Lake Superior. The property is a rustic wilderness stone and log cabin on top of a ridge, with sleeping space for up to 14 people. Overlooking the 1500-acre, crystal clear waters of Presque Isle Lake in the North Woods, this log cabin receives guest’s year-around. During the summer, many families enjoy the swimming off of the cabin’s lakeside dock, and anglers enjoy an ample supply of trophy Muskie, Walleye and Bass from the dock and by boat.

Let’s say you are thinking about taking the family to Breckenridge, Colorado for a week of skiing or snowboarding fun. A short search on the Internet will give you a sizable list of resorts or hotels to choose from. They have nice rooms, food service, probably a pool, and transit service to the slopes. But what is available in a vacation rental?

There are more than two-dozen vacation homes available in Breckenridge, Colorado. You can access descriptions and photographs of many of these homes. Facilities range from units that sleep 6 to exclusive townhouses that provide sleeping quarters for up to 22 people. Rates start at $70 per day to $20,000 per week. That would seem palatial to me. I wonder if the rates are negotiable?

Finding exactly the right-sized home, with the desired amenities, for the price you are willing to pay will take some searching. You should really take the time to decide what kind of a place you really want, the amenities, and how many people will be going with you, before you start going though lists. Of course, some people go to Breckenridge in the summer, rather than during the winter for the ski season, and rentals are available, even during the off-season.

With a vacation rental you get more space and special amenities compared with a conventional hotel, motel or resort. The cost per square foot is usually less, but the amount of space is usually more. You have more privacy, but you will probably have to do your own cooking and wash your own dishes. As with everything else, you have to decide how you want to spend you time and your money – what do you value and how much is it worth to you?

Picking and booking the right vacation home may require some time, but it is also time well spent with people you love. Compared to the hotel experience, a vacation home rental is an excellent option that you should consider for your next vacation. It might create that perfect memory you have been looking to achieve for your family.

Suppose, instead of Breckenridge and skiing, you are interested in a week at the beach, a weekend in the woods, or a week following your favorite NASCAR event. On January 20th, 2008, it is estimated that four million people will be in Washington D.C. for the inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama. Hotels were sold out weeks ago… but there are still plenty of vacation rentals in the greater D.C. metropolitan area, looking for renters. Some people are even renting their homes to visitors coming in for the inauguration and taking the opportunity to visit grandma, while someone else is renting their home.

Jeb Maxwell got involved in vacation home rentals by accident, when he bought a new house, but was unable to sell his old house. Now, vacationers rent his home second for a week or weekend. You can locate more vacation rentals, organized by city & state at: http://www.findvacationrentals.com/

Asias Great Culture And Vacation Travel Wonders

We know Asia its agreat country and with alot of great resources but lets take a look at its culture and the great places for travel that can be found in many places of Asia.

With Asia’s immense size, and natural and cultural diversity, it can be daunting to the first-time visitor from the West. After a long period of instability and war, Cambodia has once again become a viable tourist destination. And Angkor Wat, which boasts around 100 temples, is undoubtedly the country’s biggest draw. From the heights of the world’s tallest building in Kuala Lumpur to the depths reached by divers off Borneo, Malaysia has something for everyone. China, with its population now well in excess of one billion people , has so much to see and do that it would require a lifetime to explore.

Despite the fact that India is considered the world’s largest democracy, religion is present everywhere, and the great architecture that celebrates the faiths of Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs is not hard to find. To make the most of your time in Asia, there are some important factors to consider before you go. For instance, it costs a lot more to visit during peak travel periods, and these can vary even within a country. Also, remember to read the fine print for hidden costs (such as additional taxes) before you book a package.

When you fly is as important as where you fly if you’re trying to save money on airfare. As with vacation packages, you can find the cheapest airfares to Asia on midweek days and in the low season.

As a general rule, don’t wait any longer than about three to four weeks before you fly to book your tickets. This will help you save a lot more for your Asia vacation.

And with Asia beginning to open more to the west economy we can see that they are willing to receive people from all parts of the world with a great smile and also giving the security of having a great time.

Where can I travel in Asia for the lowest cost?

I want to travel overseas to Asia (someplace warm) and I want my money to go very far – I also eat mostly raw fruit and vegetables and would like to have easy access to them?

So where can I fly for cheapest and how do I get flight costs down?

Where can I stay for cheap but still feel safe?

How far will my money get me and how much can I expect to spend?

Thank you in advance for your time!

Destination: Indonesia would do. It’s a big country with fabulous sights worthy of a visit. If you want to save money, don’t stay in Jakarta or Bali. These are places where you can have a great holiday on a budget:
-Lombok (island east of Bali that’s more tranquil and just as beautiful. ask around for guided tours to historical temples and ruins of ancient kingdoms, watch traditional “sendratari”’s [dance drama musical] and eat local food)
-Tana Toraja (a tribe in Southern Sulawesi with very unique mystical culture… search on internet to find out more). Not very far from the Toraja area live another tribe called the Bugis, a tribe historically famous for being far-travelling pirates. Apparently the English word “bogeyman” was derived from the name of this tribe.
-Ambon (Moluccan Islands, historically aka spice islands… Ambon has the most beautiful crystal-clear sea and is a popular destination for scuba divers)
-Yogyakarta (South-central Java, a province in the form of a kingdom. Visit the Sultan’s palace and museums that talk about the royal family’s history. Hike up to Borobudur and Prambanan, one of the world’s biggest Buddhist and Hindu temples. Catching a live Sendratari Ramayana at the open air Prambanan theater is a must. Eat street food: must try gudeg. Ride “becak” [pedicab] or “andong” [horse carriage] down the streets of Malioboro and bargain with souvenir peddlers there)
-Padang/Minang (province in Western Sumatera famous for being adherent Muslims but having a female-dominated culture–their surnames are maternal! must see their beautiful architecture, watch their dynamic traditional dances, and try the famous Padang cuisine)

Stay: In Lombok you may be able to get away with a local “melati” hotel (non-star) but in other places I recommend sticking to a budget world-known chain such as Quality Inn or Ibis.

Safety: Wear an old baseball cap, sunglasses, and light long-sleeved shirts so people don’t immediately notice that you are a foreigner. Wear flip-flops and clothes that aren’t expensive, avoid wearing jewellery and carrying thick wallets with money popping out of them. Don’t answer your mobile phone when you’re caught in a traffic jam or walking in the street–set it on silent and pretend you don’t have it. I always abide by these rules in Indonesia and I’ve never had a problem.

Cheap flights: try Gulf Air, China Air, or Garuda Indonesia. Once you get to Indonesia there will be many cheap regional flights like Lion Air–you can travel Jakarta-Yogyakarta (1 hr flight) for about the equivalent of $25-30 retour. Check www.wikipedia.org for a complete list of regional Indonesian airlines.

Budget: hotel not included, set Rp150.000-Rp200.000 per day (Indonesian Rupiah, IDR) Approximately Rp10.000 (ten thousand) to US$1. Check http://www.xe.com for current exchange rates.

What are your TOP 5 TRAVEL DESTINATIONS in “ASIA” to visit, and why?

What are your TOP 5 TRAVEL DESTINATIONS in “ASIA” to visit, and why?

Where are the top 5 places you would like to go and see in ASIA, and why? Have you been there before? Whats the best thing about them?

Answer
(in no particular order):
1) Vietnam- it is naturally beautiful and there is just tons to do: going to the beautiful beaches, siteseeing the tourist destinations, bargaining for shopping, shopping at plazas, drinking beer for cheap, cheap food, nice people, etc… very cheap there.. you can find food that is really expensive and food that is really cheap… for example, cheap pho is 15,000 dong which is less than $1. there is expensive pho (at PHO 24) that is 26,000 dong (which is $1.70 or so…)..

2) S. Korea- this place is really nice; it is very developed and business like but also there are tons of shopping and tourist sites. if you have time, you should go to jeju island.. there is beautiful scenery and tons of korean dramas are filmed there. A little expensive.. especially food.

3) Singapore- this place is super clean, but much to do. you can just go around the city and tons to do.

4) Japan- I have never been there, but is is like the New York City in Asia. So much to do. So many people. expensive here… i saw on the travel channel that a capsule hotel is $50… but it has so much to offer.

5) China- it is such a big country, but it is nice there.. i heard. I haven’t been there.
